Dear Safekeeping Subscriber: On January 3, 2012, Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union will begin transitioning custody of member credit union securities away from U.S. Central Bridge Federal Credit Union to Alaska USA Trust Company. The transition is expected to be completed by the end of January.
Over the past year, Catalyst conducted due diligence on four vendors. Alaska USA Trust Company was selected primarily because of its strong customer service culture, familiarity with the credit union movement and competitive fee structure. Alaska USA Trust Company, which has been providing custody services since 1997, will hold approximately $25 billion in par amount securities following the transition of Catalyst member securities.
Beginning January 3, 2012, all security purchases and sales will settle through Alaska USA Trust Company. Credit unions will continue to transmit settlement information through Catalyst's TranZact portal by clicking on the
"Securities Custody" button. A secondary approval will still be required to submit settlements to Catalyst.
In TranZact, you will continue to use the "Securities Custody" button to view custody reports and the
"Holdings Report" button to view historical reports. A new
"User's Guide for Securities Custody," which will take effect January 3, 2012, will be available on TranZact by November 30.
To help credit unions learn more about entering settlements and reading reports on TranZact, Catalyst will conduct a training webinar on the following dates:
- Thursday, December 8 - 2 p.m. CST
- Thursday, December 15 - 2 p.m. CST
- Monday, January 9 - 2 p.m. CST
To register, visit www.catalystcorp.org/webinars.aspx.
For your future reference, new instructions for delivering securities into custody are attached. As always, Catalyst requests that credit unions submit and approve settlements at least one day prior to settlement date. Securities settlements submitted on the same day as the settlement date may not be processed in time to settle the same day.
